Forum for the Protection of Women and Children
Jagratha Samithi is a protection forum for women and children operating at the local level with constant vigilance to ensure the rights, physical and mental well-being, and personal security of women and children, as well as to prevent violence, rights violations, and social boycott against them. The Jagratha Samithi functions to make immediate interventions in urgent matters requiring protective mechanisms in the local area. The committees can also function by utilizing available legal protection and mechanisms for women and children to address cases and issues abandoned due to the absence of various committees.
🎯 Objectives & Goals
- ✔ Protect the rights of women and children, ensure strong interventions, and make necessary arrangements for solutions against any violence, discrimination, rights violation, exploitation, or denial.
- ✔ Receive any complaint involving women and children as parties and resolve it through urgent interventions or support systems.
- ✔ Escalate complaints and issues that cannot be resolved directly by the Jagratha Samithi to the District Jagratha Samithi, Women's Commission, other government bodies, and legal aid agencies, ensuring the benefits reach the grassroot level through follow-up actions.
- ✔ Coordinate government-level agencies and schemes for the protection of women's and girls' rights. Coordinate the activities of other agencies with similar goals alongside Jagratha Samithi.
- ✔ Implement activities to create a social environment in society free from issues affecting women and children.
- ✔ Form various collectives to achieve objectives and utilize community-based mechanisms.
- ✔ Provide community monitoring and support for women and child welfare activities in vulnerable circumstances.

Ward / Division Level Jagratha Samithi
The Ward/Division Jagratha Samithi is a sub-unit of the Jagratha Samithi established for women and children at the local self-government level. General body meetings of the ward-level committee can be organized along with Grama Sabhas or as special Grama Sabhas.
